G’day – I’m Anthony Johns, and welcome to my little corner of the internet.
I’m a retired roofer based in sunny Brisbane, Australia. After more than 30 years clambering around rooftops across the UK, USA and here at home, I decided to hang up the harness – but not the passion for all things roofing.
These days, I’m more likely to be found hiking through the bush with my wife Rosemary or perched quietly with my binoculars watching birds. But I still keep one eye on the rooftops – old habits die hard!
I started this blog to share useful, no-nonsense info for roofers, tradies, and anyone who spends time working on or thinking about roofs. Whether it’s safety tips, different roofing styles, how climate affects your roof, or how to deal with nesting birds and other roof inhabitants such as possums and snakes. I love birds and wildlife!
I try to keep things practical and grounded in real experience.
There’s also a bit about solar panels, because let’s face it – they’re not going anywhere. And if I can help someone avoid frying themselves while installing a panel in summer, then I’ll call that a win.
